UK-trained Master Butcher Nicole Matthews opened Meat Merchants in the Whenuapai Village to provide meat lovers with quality food prepared the good old-fashioned way. Now located in Coopers Creek, Canterbury offering her niche products online and her skilled services to the local famers and hunters.
Nicole specialises in charcuterie and small goods, Supplying our New Zealand Olympians with her handcrafted biltong at the Tokyo Olympics. Winning multiple awards for her sausages, Nicole’s knowledge and skill draws on over thirty years experience. Her passion and dedication to her craft is showcased in her produce.
Nicole’s career started in New Zealand where she became the first female butchery manager for Foodtown/ Countdown. She moved to the UK to continue her career which included three years at the legendary London butchery, Lidgate.
Upon her return to New Zealand Nicole set up her own Butchery in Whenuapai and quickly establishing as award winning retail butcher and home kill service provider.
Now relocating to Canterbury with a purpose built premise in Coopers Creek, Nicole brings her skill and expertise to the South.
