UK-trained Master Butcher Nicole Matthews opened Meat Merchants in the Whenuapai Village to provide meat lovers with quality food prepared the good old-fashioned way.
Top quality meat, poultry, game and small goods are sourced from New Zealand farms. This is then prepared for you using Nicole’s unique techniques that draws on over twenty years experience.
Nicole’s career started in New Zealand where she became the first female butchery manager for Foodtown/ Countdown. She moved to the UK to continue her career which included three years at the legendary London butchery, Lidgate.
Upon her return to New Zealand Nicole became Master Butcher at East Coast Bay’s Pinehill Butchery, before setting up her own Butchery in Whenuapai.

Nicole’s old-school training embraces all the natural goodness that New Zealand farm-grown produce can offer. “We only use natural additives and ingredients and we make sure everything we source is free of animal protein, growth promoters and hormones.”
